Storm

I have had this jacket for 1 year now. I live in Wisconsin and I like to be outside and ice fish and just be able to be warm when I'm doing it. I have tried everything, from layering, to down (to Hot) and everything in between. I found fortress and watched a few vids o youtube. I thought if they can jump in the water and still be warm while sitting there it should work for me. I ordered the whole 9 yards, base layer, jacket, bibs, socks and beanie. Best money I ever spent! I went out ice fishing in 2021 and it was about 20 degrees with a 5-7mph wind on the ice. I had the base layer on and an insulated sweatshirt. I was comfortable all day. I gave a pair of the socks to my friend who ice fishes with me. Fast forward to 2022. I was out in the deep freeze. I wore the parka and bibs with jeans and a shirt underneath. I was nice and warm. My friend who I gave the socks to was out with me. I asked him if he still had the socks. He looked at me and said "It's all I wear now!" I can't say enough good things about the product and believe me when I say it was cold here -50 below is cold. I wasn't though. Are you?

Im a big fan of this coat; the wind protection layer is no joke and i feel it also helps alot to stop the warmth gathered by the loft from pouring out. It also has high collar that additionally retains warmth; i loved the extreme jacket, but always felt the gaping vortex of warmth escaping at the sternum where the v-neck is. unlike alot of other Fortress coats, the storm coat has a slippery interior lining that makes it alot easier to put on and off over layers.
A note about sizing. Fortress is recommending sizes based on height and weight, without listing actual dimensions. Im a bodybuilding, which throws that system off as muscle weighs alot more than fat (basically im 200lbs without a gut.) thus i had to return the large that the chart recommended. Im a watchman who doesnt move alot at night to generate warmth, so ive benefited from layering an old hybrid hoodie on top of the shadow jacket, and this slides nicely over them both, giving me 1,25 inches of loft total with the basepro. thus at 5'9" 200lbs i would probably fit into a small, but the medium works well as an overcoat and fits pretty good as well alone. i would say this is the warmest setup ive ever had, even better than when i used the extreme jacket and basepro under a canada goose snow mantra (which weighed a ton.) I was happy to offload the snow mantra for this much lighter option

Great coat, does everything advertised. Very high quality cut. Keeps me warm on a cold bike ride. As always, very happy with Fortress Clothing. One tip: As soon as I got it I pierced the hood with a nylon loop to ensure I don't lose the hood of the coat. Easily give it 5 stars!
